Doble R
Doble R
Curaçao
Doble R is without a doubt a legend in Curaçao. The band was named after composer/pianist Rignald Recordino and became big with the local "salsa antiyana", sung in Papiamentu. Mr. Saab was the first star singer, after that Ompi Stefania was the singer on the classic LP 'la Vida Continua' in 1978 (!).
Other well-known names were Jersey, Romeo and Janjo Rosario, who is still part of the band. In the nineties the band went off the radar and made a triumphant come back in 2010 in the Concerthall in Amsterdam. 'Ma Hana Kos Pa Bo', their last CD, was released at the end of 2016. Doble R, bon bini and Hoogstraten!
