In 1999 the album 'A Lo Cubano' struck hit like a bomb! The debut album of Paris-based, Cuban act Orishas had a new sound that shook the way of how people looked at Cuba. What used to be all about traditional and beautiful orchestrated son, bolero, and timba music, Orishas brought a raw, modern sound that connected with young people worldwide. Songs like 'Represent' and 'A Lo Cubano' were hip hop anthems and they became famous far outside of Cuba.
