Nailah Blackman
Nailah Blackman
Trinidad & Tobago
This soca princess has been on our wish list for several years. Nailah broke through in 2017 with the song "Baila Mami" and "Workout", together with Kes The Band. Her danceable songs have dancehall, pop and trap influences. Her first album "The Reel" was released in 2019. Our favorite is this "More Sokah". Indeed, more soca please !!!
Nailah comes from a musical family: her mother Abbi is a Calypso artist and her cousin Avon a reggae singer. And her grandfather Garfield Blackman is known as one of the founders of the soca. He ended up in Dominica and brought the local cadence-lypso and chutney music (with Indian influences) together with calypso. This resulted in the "soul of calypso", better known as soca!
